BC’s first disability media festival
Kickstart is excited to announce the Wide Angle Media Festival (WAM), the inaugural disability media festival featuring commissioned shorts, feature length films and workshops. Mark your calendar for March 22-25 2012!
The theme of the Festival – “wide angle” – refers to the spirit of expansiveness and inclusion that lies at the core of disability arts, and to the widest range of media genres and formats. The intent is to broaden audiences for works by media artists with disabilities; to celebrate the spectrum of genres, styles and vision of those artists; and, to support the creation of new works.
Audiences will enjoy a privileged glimpse of the world through the lens of the disability experience. The themes of these works will be unlimited – they are not necessarily films about issues of disability; they will be about anything under the sun, as seen by filmmakers with disabilities.
